Liz + Graeme Get Hitched!

I've known Liz for many years as a fellow member of the Toronto music scene, Liz is a very talented singer/songwriter in the band Picastro. I also photographed her with their son, Leon a few years ago.

Liz and Graeme's wedding took place at the gorgeous and historic Palais Royale which is right on the lake, so we made sure to take advantage of the beautiful day and shoot some portraits out on the beach. They were also treated to a stunning sunset that night so we had to duck out of the reception for a couple of minutes to get some shots.

After the dinner, the cutting of the "cheese" cake...literally a cake consisting of stacked wheels of cheese, the dance floor filled up almost immediately for a night of joyful festivities.
It was a wonderful day and I was honoured to be a part of it.
Thanks and congrats to Liz and Graeme.

Angela + Andrew Sitting in a Tree...

Angela and Andrew's wedding was beautiful. Angela was a stunning bride and they couldn't have asked for a better day being an October wedding.

The ceremony took place at the gorgeous St Paul's Basilica which is such an unassuming venue for being right downtown. We had to take advantage of the large church facade a get a shot of the entire congregation on the front step after the ceremony.

We then headed to Rosette McClain Garden's near the Scarborough bluffs. I had actually never shot there before so I was pleasantly surprised as to how great it is, it has all kinds of unique photogenic features, including the big climbable tree that we managed to get the bride and groom onto (for one of my favourite photos of this season!!!).

Thanks for the great day Angela and Andrew, you were a pleasure to work with.
Congrats!

Karen + Ben

Karen and Ben got married at the Ward's Island Association Clubhouse on Toronto Island. Their choice of location suited both them and their rustic, chilled-out style of wedding completely. The ceremony itself was on the Ward's Island beach with an intimate congregation of family and friends - mostly barefoot - standing around. Many sunbathing onlookers also decided to gather round and watch which added to the very "Toronto Island" feel of the wedding.

Karen had put a great deal of time, thought and creativity into their wedding decor, one of the most impressive pieces being the hand-stitched patchwork chuppa that very ornately depicted scenes and symbols from their lives. And a mention must go out to the beautiful colour beading Karen added to her wedding dress. Stunning!

Everyone got to enjoy delicious smoked meat sandwiches from Caplansky's and guests provided home-made pickles and cupcakes. This was definitely a creative bunch.

Congrats to Karen and Ben. It was a fantastic Island wedding!

Lisa, Ted + Owen

I've known Lisa since I was about 12 years old when we used to swim together at Pointe Claire Swim Club. Our families have remained good friends since those days so we usually get to catch up a couple of times a year. Lisa and Ted's portrait session was actually a baby shower gift from my parents.

Owen was only a couple of weeks old during our photo shoot but as Lisa and Ted describe it, "they gave birth to a toddler" with a full head of hair to boot!
Owen slept through most of the shoot but we managed to grab a few of shots with his eyes open towards the end.

George Romero - King of Zombies!

I was recently asked by Montreal's Hour magazine to shoot a portrait of George Romero, legendary director of such films as Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and most recently Survival of the Dead. For anyone who has seen my most recent music video, you'll know that I am a fan of the zombie flicks so this was a huge honour.

George was a very polite, mild manner gentleman with a great look for a dark, stoic portrait. This is the shot chosen for the cover.

Monica + Glenn's Wedding

I can easily say that Monica and Glenn's wedding is up there on my "Favourite Wedding Ever" list!!!

To start with, it took place on a beautiful private residence fit with an emerald coloured pond and lush grounds that provided camping and swimming for all the guests. And then, since Glenn is a member of the legendary Canadian rock group Blue Rodeo, we all got to experience an exclusive and intimate performance by the band in a tiny little barn...my favourite moment for sure was Monica and Glenn's first dance to a live performance of "Lost Together"...heart-melting.

Despite the rain, Monica and Glenn had their hearts set on having their ceremony outside by the pond and I'm so glad they did. There was something so unique about the sea of colourful rain coats and umbrellas mixed with the subdued skies and rich greens of the surroundings that set the mood perfectly.

The party went on well into the night with an array of great guest performers and barn dancing, and no country wedding is complete without a late night dip in the pond which many guests enjoyed - myself included!

Thanks and congrats to Monica and Glenn for a fantastic experience.
